This piece bears witness to the invisible disabilities of people with brain injuries and, more broadly, mental and emotional suffering that goes unseen.<br \/>\nI underwent a craniotomy to repair a ruptured brain aneurysm in November 2015, and the changes in my cognition are a theme underlying much of my art. Like others with brain injuries, I struggle to cope not only with these changes but with the veil of perception: Because I appear \u201cnormal,\u201d people tend to scoff at the disability I attempt to describe.
